Whisper Picture ("the app") is provided by Spindola Software. By using the app, on the web or as an installed application, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What the app does

The app hides an encrypted message or file inside an image, entirely on your device, and reads it back. It has no account and no server for your content; everything is processed locally. See our Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.

No password recovery

There is no password reset and no back door. If you forget the password you used, the hidden content cannot be recovered by us or by anyone — it is gone permanently. Keep a secure record of your passwords.

Security is best-effort, not absolute

The app uses standard encryption (AES-256-GCM) and steganography to protect the contents of what you hide and, with a decoy password, to let you deny which secret an image holds. It does not promise that the mere presence of hidden data is undetectable: a determined expert using forensic analysis may be able to detect that an image carries concealed data. Do not rely on the app in any situation where detection or disclosure would put you or anyone else at risk. The app is a tool, not a guarantee of safety.

Acceptable use

You are solely responsible for the content you hide, carry, or share with the app. You agree not to use the app to create, store, transmit, or conceal any content that is illegal under applicable law — including, without limitation, child sexual abuse material, content that facilitates violence or terrorism, stolen data, or material that infringes others' rights. Because all processing is on your device, Spindola Software never receives, hosts, or has the ability to access your content; responsibility for it is entirely yours.

Export and local law

The app uses cryptography provided by your operating system and browser. Encryption software is regulated in some countries, and using or distributing it may be restricted where you are. You are responsible for complying with the laws of your jurisdiction.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, security, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that hidden content will always be recoverable.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spindola Software is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, content, privacy, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the app — including any loss resulting from a forgotten password, detection of hidden content, or a security limitation of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for it (which is typically zero) or USD $10.

Changes

We may update these terms; the current version lives at this URL with its effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
